An old Tradition. On the 5th of January we have the “Pingal Perchten” in Mayrhofen. Children dress up as old people and walk from house to house, wishing a happy new year. For that they get some sweets or a bit of money. An old tradition we did as kids, and still kept alive. 👍👍It is to get rid of bad spirits and to keep the winter at bay. In the evening adults get their turn as “Schnapps Perchten”. Well they don’t get sweets. But the name gives it away. 😉. Maybe that is one reason we have a bank holiday on the 6th.
